FAQ

There are a variety of fun and challenging activities, many which relate to the air element, such as: gliding, familiarization flying, drumline/drill team, archery, marksmanship, public speaking, first aid, survival training, band, biathlon, field exercise training (camping), orienteering, cadet squadron trips, and supporting the community.

You are eligible to join once you have reached your 12th birthday and not older than 18 years old.

There is a nominal assessment contribution of $200 for the first cadet and $60 for each additional sibling.

If the fees will be difficult for you to pay, please have a conversation with the Squadron Sponsoring Committee Chair.  The fees can be paid in instalments, or even waived if necessary. No cadet will be turned away due to lack of funds.

All mandatory training activities are free of charge. On occasion, there are optional social activities such as year-end trips that may have a nominal charge. Many times these activities are partially or fully subsidized by the Squadron Sponsoring Committee through active fundraising.

While the DND supplies funds for officers, uniforms, and some programs, the Parent Society covers everything else. From building maintenance and utilities, all the way to familiarization flying and FTX support.

No. Complete uniforms are loaned to cadets by the Canadian Forces. You are expected to keep the uniform looking clean and neat. As you grow, you may exchange your uniform for a larger size at no charge.

The required uniform for Parade Night will be indicated in the calendar. You will get access to the calendar after you join.

You are expected to attend the Tuesday Parade night starting at 6:15 PM. In addition, you will be expected to participate in some mandatory fundraising activities throughout the year. There are optional training activities available throughout the week such as Marksmanship, Band, Drill Team, Flying, and more. You may join as many as them as you like and have the time for. You will get access to the calendar of activities once you join.

When: Parade Night is every Tuesday starting at 6:15 PM

Where: Princess Armouries, 45707 Princess Avenue, Chilliwack, BC

Attire: Required uniform will be indicated in the calendar. You will get access after you join.

Not at all. Air Cadets is a civilian youth organization with ties to the Canadian military, but it's not part of the Canadian military. As a cadet, you will learn more about the military and opportunities.

Air Cadets who can pass required medical and written examinations can qualify for aircraft and glider pilot scholarship courses.

The Cadet training year parallels the school year, September to June.
